Welcome to the 2010 Season!

Penns Valley Little League Parents and Players

Welcome to the 2010 season! While there is snow on the ground, we all know that green grass is underneath it!

The planning for this season has been occurring since January and is still progressing. Teams have been selected and, if you haven’t been contacted already, you will be shortly. The season schedule is not completely done, but it will be released as soon as possible to assist you in your future planning.

The first event on the agenda is League Day. This is an instructional day on March 20th for 9-12 year old Players, Managers and Coaches. Instruction will cover the skills of Pitching (Tom Deardorff), Catching (Matt Harter), Infield (Dave Montresor), Outfield (Keith Ripka) and Batting/Bunting (Chuck Romig). The location will be at the Centre Hall Fields and the times of this event are split. The 9-10 year olds are from 10:00-Noon and 11-12 year olds from Noon-2:00. Plans for inclement weather are pending. If the infields aren’t ready for play we’ll hold the event in the grass areas. More details to follow.

More Newsletters will follow as we approach April. Please refer to our website http://www.pennsvalleybaseball.org throughout the season for information. Take care and we’ll see you on the fields soon!

Tri-Municipal Park

UPDATE of the Feb. 16th Meeting:
There was about 30 people there, most of which were older and concerned about the plan.  A lot of them were very skeptical of the plan and paying for the park in the short and long term.  Most didn't understand that it is still very much in the planning stage and nothing is set in stone.  The park is designed according to the input from the about 200 surveys they received.  The park can be developed in stages, for example, just starting with a soccer field.  They even said it might/could take years (20-40) to finally develop it if thats the route the community wants to take.  They are considering alternate funding from all types of organizations and special interest groups.
A plea was made baseball.  It was asked about putting in a full size diamond, since PV has lost two 90' diamonds in the last several years.  That got some positive comments.  Currently there are two LL fields in the plan.  Some argued that LL fields are not needed in PV.

League Days

The tentative dates for League Days are March 20 and 27.
